Stablex Cell 6 hazardous-waste landfill (Blainville)
A new hazardous-waste landfill cell of about 8 million cubic metres planned by Stablex, the subsidiary of a US company, at Blainville, Quebec, which would let it keep burying waste until about 2065. Quebec's Bill 93, adopted under closure in March 2025, transferred the land to the State for the project and exempted it from municipal, regional and Montreal-area zoning rules; a government decree then authorized the cell under conditions. Stablex treats industrial waste from Quebec, Ontario and the northeastern United States.
