Quebec tables Bill 93 to transfer the Blainville property to the State for lease to Stablex
Quebec tabled Bill 93 on 27 February 2025 to force the sale of land in Blainville so that Stablex, the subsidiary of a US company, could build a new hazardous-waste cell there. Natural Resources Minister Maïté Blanchette Vézina published a letter from Stablex's chief executive saying the current site would be full in 2027 and that trees had to be cut by mid-April; the BAPE had found instead that Cell 5 could take waste until the early 2030s (La Presse).
