Larry Fink (BlackRock) at the Canada Investment Summit: the announcements are "opening up the opportunities to bring forth more capital to Canada"
On a panel on the summit's second day (15 September 2026), BlackRock chief executive Larry Fink said he had believed in Canada for 20 years but that his firm had historically had difficulty finding investment opportunities there. "I do believe what has been announced the last two days is going to be opening up the opportunities to bring forth more capital to Canada," he said (Financial Post). BlackRock committed $15 million over three years to skilled-trades training. A statement of interest that depends on projects actually materialising, not committed capital.

Claims that rest on this event
How it bears on the outcome
| Explanation | Fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| O0 No meaningful speed-up | Neutral weak | A statement of interest with no committed capital beyond $15M for training does not show a speed-up. |
| O1 Faster, but the extra output goes mostly elsewhere | Neutral weak | Says nothing about where output goes. |
| O2 Faster, and more volume reaches the US (this level or higher) | Neutral weak | Says nothing about volumes to the US. |
| O3 Locked-in preferential terms for the US | Neutral weak | Interest from a US asset manager is not a locked-in term. |
