BC Conservatives criticize the southern pipeline route through Delta farmland, and Findlay blames Eby for blocking the northern route
The National Post reported on 21 July 2026 (syndicated on Yahoo News Canada) that BC Conservatives were criticizing the southern route of the proposed West Coast oil pipeline, announced earlier that month by the federal and Alberta governments, which would run about 1,200 kilometres from Bruderheim, Alberta, to Roberts Bank in Delta, BC, through Fraser Valley farmland. Conservative agriculture critic Ian Paton, MLA for Delta South, asked: "Do we need one more huge interruption going through our farmland in Delta?" According to the report, party leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay blamed Premier Eby for blocking the northern route, writing in a social media post the previous week that Eby was "actively forcing our energy sector into longer, costlier southern routes that will cut through vital farmland just to satisfy a room full of activists."

Claims that rest on this event
- Cross-party support is for the projects, not the fast-track instruments: BC's Conservatives voted against both BC fast-track laws even though they promise more building.
BC Conservatives want the pipeline, not the NDP's tools.
