After Sisson is added to the federal major-projects list, Wolastoqey chiefs say they will insist on proper processes and respect for their rights
When Sisson was added to Ottawa's list of major projects, St. Mary's First Nation Chief Alan Polchies Jr. said the Wolastoqey chiefs were still gathering information and 'will insist that all proper processes are put in place, and of course that we ensure that the Wolastoqey rights are respected.' Premier Susan Holt said it was too soon to say whether a present-day agreement would mirror the 2017 arrangement and that equity discussions were at an early stage (Global News, Nov. 13, 2025).

How it bears on the outcome
| Explanation | Fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| O0 No meaningful speed-up | Neutral weak | Chiefs saying they will insist on proper process, with equity talks at an early stage, fits a speed-up or its absence about equally; the listing itself is the federal step. |
| O1 Faster, but the extra output goes mostly elsewhere | Neutral weak | Nothing about where the mine's output would go; fits equally. |
| O2 Faster, and more volume reaches the US (this level or higher) | Neutral weak | No information on volumes reaching the US; fits equally. |
| O3 Locked-in preferential terms for the US | Neutral weak | No US preferential term or stake is mentioned. |
