Canada announces 25% counter-tariffs on C$155B of US goods: C$30B first, then C$125B

On 1 February 2025 Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc and Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly announced 25% tariffs on C$155 billion of US goods: C$30 billion from 4 February, when the US tariffs were due, and C$125 billion more after a 21-day comment period. Both the US tariffs and Canada's first list were paused on 3 February; the C$30 billion list took effect on 4 March 2025, and the second list was never enacted.
