Canada is the largest single source of uranium for US reactors, but not by much, and its biggest producer's future sales are shifting overseas. Canadian uranium was 32% of what US reactor operators bought in 2025 (Kazakhstan: 28%) and 37% of what EU utilities received. Cameco's signed long-term sales were 38% to the Americas (the US, Canada and Latin America) at the end of 2025, down from 64% in 2022, against 40% to Europe and 22% to Asia, which includes a C$2.6 billion sale to India. Two new Saskatchewan mines, NexGen's Rook I and Denison's Phoenix, got construction licences in 2026 from the federal regulator under the ordinary process, not the new fast-track laws.
