Labrador Trough Corridor strategy (Sept-Îles)
The Labrador Trough Clean Power, Critical Minerals and Infrastructure Corridor, a strategy to build the mining, energy and trade infrastructure of the Labrador Trough, a mining belt of about 1,100 kilometres across Quebec and Labrador that holds most of Canada's high-purity iron ore and connects to world markets through the Port of Sept-Îles. Ottawa referred it to the Major Projects Office as a transformative strategy on 17 August 2026, the day Hydro-Québec and Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro signed the cooperation agreement on Gull Island and Churchill Falls that is to supply the region with more electricity (Major Projects Office).
