Section 301 forced-labour tariff action (60 economies)

Tariffs imposed by the US Trade Representative under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974 on 60 economies for their failure to impose and effectively enforce a ban on imports of goods made with forced labour. Final action announced on July 23, 2026, in effect from July 24, 2026. Canada is in the 10% tier, for economies that have such a ban, have committed to one in a reciprocal trade agreement or have a partial regime; CUSMA-compliant Canadian goods are exempt. Most other investigated economies, including Australia, pay 12.5%; certain products of the European Union, Japan, Korea, Switzerland and Taiwan pay 10% or 12.5% net of the most-favoured-nation rate. Some products are exempt.
