Preliminary Joint Arrangement on Addressing Bilateral Economic and Trade Issues between Canada and the People's Republic of China

Canada lets in up to 49,000 Chinese electric vehicles a year at the 6.1% most-favoured-nation tariff instead of that rate plus the 100% surtax (quota from 1 March 2026). From 1 March 2026 China's duty on Canadian canola seed falls to about 15% combined (5.9% anti-dumping plus 9% most-favoured-nation), and its tariffs on canola meal, lobsters, crabs and peas are suspended until at least the end of 2026. The two countries aim to raise Canada's exports to China by 50% by 2030.
