Northern Shield Energy Corridor
A proposed oil pipeline corridor from Alberta to Ontario promoted by Premiers Danielle Smith and Doug Ford as a revival of the eastern route; Smith said it could eventually carry 800,000 barrels a day and extend to the Atlantic. No private company had proposed to build it (The Canadian Press, July 2026). In a July 2026 Abacus poll, 61% of Canadians supported it.
