Enbridge Mainline Optimization Phase 2
The second phase of Enbridge's Mainline Optimization, which would add about 250,000 barrels a day of export capacity from Alberta toward the United States by the end of 2028. Enbridge postponed it on 31 July 2026 because Canadian producers had not committed; coverage cited oil-price volatility and the non-binding federal–Alberta energy agreement. Phase 1 (about 150,000 barrels a day) reached a final investment decision in November 2025.
