BC Conservative MLA Elenore Sturko introduced a private member's bill, Bill M 223, Interpretation Amendment Act (No. 2), 2025, at first reading on 19 November 2025. Its clause 1 repeals section 8.1 of the Interpretation Act, the rule that BC laws be read consistently with the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (a provision added in connection with DRIPA, not a section of DRIPA itself). The bill went no further than first reading (Legislative Assembly of British Columbia).
