ClaimTested hypothesis: rival reading
Part of a thought experiment. This claim belongs to the tested hypotheses about US intent: a deliberately contrarian question (“suppose Washington foresaw and wanted this: what would we expect to see, and do we see it?”) tested alongside rival readings. It is not the author’s belief. How the test works.
Against fragmentation as the working US plan: the US kept humiliating Canada as a whole (the 'Lake America' order, the burst of attacks in August and September 2026), which rallies Canadians behind Ottawa. A strategy of weakening Canada through its provinces would need those attacks to stop.
