ClaimTested hypothesis: intent
Part of a thought experiment. This claim belongs to the tested hypotheses about US intent: a deliberately contrarian question (“suppose Washington foresaw and wanted this: what would we expect to see, and do we see it?”) tested alongside rival readings. It is not the author’s belief. How the test works.
In the foresight thought experiment: the US Treasury lifted sanctions on Belarus's state potash producer in March 2026, and Trump said Belarus 'would like to sell it for a much lower price'. This complicates the idea that the US is securing Canadian supply, and fits plain self-interest: shop for the cheapest input.
