The traditional Wolastoq Grand Council says it remains opposed to the Sisson mine

The Wolastoq Grand Council was not part of the negotiations and remains opposed to the mine. Grand Chief Ron Tremblay said the land is sacred: 'What we're mainly concerned about is the protection of the land and the waters.' He declined to comment on the elected chiefs' decision, calling it their prerogative, and said the province had never invited the traditional government to the table (CBC News, Feb. 10, 2017).
